HHCA 2017

2016 was a busy year. Our Chicken Noodle Dinner Fundraiser was a great success. Because of its success, we were able to award two $500 scholarships. Thanks to Mark Fraizer's help, improvements were able to be made to the North Street Park, such as: lighting, painted playground equipment, new mulch around the playground, and a community vegetable garden. A fence surrounding the garden was put up and rain barrels were built to assist with irrigation.

It has been a couple of years in the making, but as many of you know, The City of Newark is putting in a median around the area of Wyoming Street and HHCA gets to design it. With that great news, additionally in 2016, a committee was formed to work on plans for the gateway/median to The Historic Hudson District. This committee has and is currently working on plans with the city.

2017 looks to be even more exciting with the gateway/median coming to fruition, raised beds are to be built for the community vegetable garden. The Annual Chicken Noodle Dinner Fundraiser is shaping up to be another great community success. The spring clean-up and May Yard Sale are also planned. If that did not sound like enough fun, there will be many other opportunities to bring the Community together for libations, great food, and great company; progressive picnic, possibly a picnic in the park, and of course the Christmas Party/Dinner. Some possible summer events are also in the works. If you have any thoughts or ideas of possible community events, do not hesitate to contact one of the HHCA Officers.

Historic Hudson Community Association is a community driven organization. We do our best to not only retain the history and unique architecture of our community, but we strive to make the Historic Hudson District neighborhood beautiful, appealing, and safe. The accomplishments of the HHCA have not been obtained by one individual, but rather by the coming together of the community as a whole. The HHCA and our community need our neighbors and friends living in this district to help. Furthermore, we always need new ideas, which come from you, our neighbors It is also a chance to get to know others in the community and have a good time. Who knows, you may make a new friend.

Our meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at the GMP Hall, 350 Hudson Avenue at 7PM. These are open to the public. These meetings are held September through May. We often have speakers who are of interest to the group. For example we have had: the Law Director, Mayor, City Engineer, Director of Department of Development, Representative from Dawes, Licking County Aging, Chief of Police and others.

Remember to support our local law enforcement and fire and medic services. Thank them for the sacrifices they make daily to keep our community safe.
